Art in the Garden

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lea Paulson is an artist currently residing in Vancouver, British Columbia. She attended the Fine Arts program at the University of Minnesota, Pilchuck Glass School in Washington and received her degree in Interior Design from Academie Internationale de la Mode et du Design in Montreal, Quebec. She completed an apprenticeship in stained glass with Stephen Taylor, R.C.A., in Toronto, Ontario. She worked with this medium for 10 years – expanding into 3-D works of sandblasted glass and stone. An eclectic artist, her designs are also portrayed in clay, clothing and fabric design, hand-painted furniture and floorcloths. After moving to Vancouver and having a business in faux finishing and murals, her current focus is on painting and illustration.

Lea’s paintings use her love of bold line and brilliant colour to express her continual joy in the beauty, mystery and energy of nature. Her series of illustrations represents her vision that life is an adventure to be lived with exuberance and, more importantly, a wonderful sense of humour.

Her work is in private and corporate collections in Europe, U.S., and Canada.
